  20. Is it possible to boot an old RAM TOS from hard disc ( ie. put
  21. TOS.IMG on some partition and make the ST boot from the partition).

  97. Yes, but isn't advertisement from small companies valuable information
  98. in this newsgroup. I was looking for Blitz for 1 month but wasn't able
  99. to locate it, and this "Ad" (which contained the way to build the cable
  100. by oneself) was a very valuable piece of information. Aren't you asking for
  101. a kind of an ad with your first question?

  127. you are talking about being deprived of
  128. chewing.   On what, i don't know?

  130. Anyhow, I think the main point in all this Atari bashing,
  131. and i certainly have been rather indecorous in that department,
  132. is a manifestation of frustration with and bitterness towards
  133. the Atari COMPANY.  Some of us depend on Atari for our livelihood.
  134. Some of us have spent x dollars investing in Atari hardware, software
  135. and so on with the expectation that the future would be bright and
  136. that Atari would provide most of those great products coming out of
  137. R & D.  Those expectations resulted from an auspicious start with
  138. the ST in 1985 and from "talk" about the new and up and coming
  139. products.  So, it isn't simply the scenerio of a kid and his toys.
  140. I keep hearing: " Well, if you don't like Atari, go buy an X..."
  141. Tell me, is this the way Atari is going to compete in the
  142. the business world?  Hell no!  If Atari is to compete in the business
  143. world, people in business have to be using Atari's.  Rather simple.
  144. Frankly, our hopes are being dashed and our business sense is telling
  145. us it is time to make changes.  May just have to buy that "longer"
  146. computer after all and masticate on the losses from my Atari investment
  147. in hopes that i may someday digest them.

  161.    Well said. The constant bickering lately has been extremely annoying.
  162. I save these digests and mail them to a friend. The last few weeks netted
  163. over 700 000 bytes with hardly a speck of useful info - just the new
  164. ARGV definition. If a fraction of the attention were spent discussing
  165. that....

  177.     The only two bookstores in our area have stopped handling Atari magazines.
  178.     With the exception of this net, there is no other link for me to
  179. the outside ST world now.
  180.     I sure hope you folks in the ST concentrations are not taking your
  181. dealers and bookstores which stock ST magazines, etc., for granted.

  215. I don't know if this has been answered, but could the 68000's instruction
  216. prefetch be causing the problem (The 68010 has a bigger prefetch I believe
  217. which would probably cause problems). Instruction prefetch on a 68000 or
  218. 68010 is one good reason NOT to write self modifying code.

  245. According to the November issue of Unix World, the TT Desktop is from
  246. Non Standard Logics a company based in France.   The desktop is called
  247. InDepth and is currently a standard X Window implementation but NSL
  248. will be moving towards a OSF/Motif imlementation as well.  A picture
  249. of a sample desktop is included (see pg 68).
